About the White Cliffs of Dover
Location: Dover The cliffs have a great symbolic value for Britain as they face towards continental Europe across the narrowest part of the English Channel. The cliffs also feature in the culture of Britain; from Shakespeare mentioning the cliffs in King Lear to Vera Lynn singing "there'll be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover" during World War Two. Today the chalk down land in protected by the National Trust for all to enjoy, providing spectacular walks with cross-channel views.
