Jane Austen was novelist who is most well-known for her 6 novels; Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. She is commended by scholars world-wide for her satirical and realistic commentary on life in the late 18th and early 19th century, which was said to be a striking representation of how life was. Although she was never published under her own name during her lifetime, she is now known across the world and many adaptions have been made of her work including films and television series.
